Small Space Eat-In Kitchen

Living in NYC, it can be a real challenge to carve out spaces for what people with larger homes take for granted ... like a table :) In this apartment there was no place to sit and eat, so it was often dinner on the couch, but not anymore!

I am in LOVE with this eat-in small space kitchen solution!

The table is from IKEA (Check it out here!) as well as the chairs.

The thing that really does it for me is the chair storage. Each chair fold and has a hole in the top that can be slid onto the piping hardware mounted on the wall. This was very easy to install and gave a great industrial feel to the space.

The chair holders are easy to make after a quick run to the hardware store. To make two you will need:

  • 2x 1/2-in galvanized floor flanges, #22440

  • 2x 1/2-in galvanized 90-degree elbow #21970

  • 2x 1/2-in x 4 to 5-in galvanized pipes, #24035

  • 8x screws

This picture makes me so happy :)

Voila! Look at that maximized space!! There when you need it and out of the way when you don't.
